Impressionist Figurative Acrylic Paintings ~ Lylas~ Arlington Museum of Art ~ Texas Contemporary Artist Nancy Standlee

LYLAS - Carol
9 x 12 Acrylic on canvas
This is one of my impressionist "angel women" that I love to paint using stamps and a loose style. Lylas - Love You Like a Sister and then a name of a friend makes up the title. You will probably see more of these because I count 3 Robert Burridge workshops for 2011. Wow..did I really sign up for that many? He will surely get tired of all of my questions. I'll be in the ones in Dallas, Granbury, and Dena's. You can check his website for links if you're interested in joining me; however, there could be a wait list as if it's a Burridge there is a good possibility of a long wait list.

Blue Cloud Angel
8 x 10 Acrylic with some collage on Canvas

I took this piece to the Arlington Museum of Art yesterday as a donation for the "Pennies from Heaven" 20th Anniversary Gala and Art Auction, February 19, 2011, a project to underwrite roof and air condition repair. Raffle tickets are available for Southwest Airlines for two, anywhere Southwest flies. I'm buying some of these for sure. Email the Museum for more info at ama@arlingtonmuseum.org.

I'm a member of Canvas by Canvas, a collaborative painting group, and we have donated one of our paintings for the Gala auction. We each one paint a different square and we draw for our square and we vote on the name. I'm so glad to get rid of this one because I could never pronounce his name. Click HERE to see him on our website.
"La Diosa Roja" ?? Did I vote yes to that name? I probably voted for "Red Longhorn". Anyway he's a beautiful longhorn and stop by the museum to get a good close up look.

How fortunate you are that you can afford and be accepted in 3 of Robert's workshop!! Lucky you! I like your Impressionist Figures.

I find your CbyC so fascinating.. Do you all start out with a complete colored sketch then divide it up? Everything is so compatible in technique and color.I would have to be the bottom left to make it work :O)

I think now after these this year will fill up my wish list for awhile. CBC starts with one of our photos and you are right...it's like dividing it up and each one takes a square. Yes, at one time we did "fight" over who got the easiest square...depending on what else you had going on in your life..we might actually give someone an easier square. I always HATED getting grass!! Loved the sky ones.
