I don't know why but I have been extremely interested in all the swine flu news.

Big personal news I've joined Weight Watchers again. I need social contact to lose. Last time I did great on a diet when my CBC sisters threw in $50 each in the pot and the one that lost the most walked away with $500 and that's all I needed to win. I've enjoyed lots of Snickers and Mexican food since then and now it's time again to get on a program and I'm the one making monthly payments. WW's eTools are the easiest way yet to keep track of food points, add recipes and track activities.
More about the flu and I missed the big Cottonwood Art Festival. And I've found a great new TV program for May "Cook Yourself Thin" on Lifetime. There are recipes at MyLifetime.Com.

Since Bea Arthur died I've been watching the Golden Girls again and I'm loving those programs. I TiVo the afternoon programs and enjoy them when other choices look a little sparse in the evening. Cindy, Betty, Karen, Barbara and I went to pick up paintings at the PCPC show and our special show at La Cima and we were thrilled to find we'd sold "From His Bounty" (pears) at the PCPC show. You can see how we transport our large paintings. Cindy made us sacks with handles from moving blankets and we stack them upright on a dolly. These are large paintings (approximately 35" x 35") and we can take down a show fast.

So many errands and all on one banana and this is a no-no for a healthy diet. I weighed in and had lost 4.8 pounds my first week. With those kind of results I'll try for week 2 and this week we add some exercise. I found these "old" empty candy wrappers in a pocket.

A slide show from our last Saladino Art Critique. Later Tony is having a one day abstract class in June. There was a new person in class and sorry I called her "newbie" because I didn't write down her name.

Love the three pieces you are taking for the student show - so colourful as all your work. Must express a very vibrant personality. Enjoyed the latest slide show. Thanks for taking the trouble. Had a troll through the Art Group website and found it fascinating that you all work on the same piece in sections.

A lucky Google search led me to your blog and I've really been enjoying your thoughts and your art, especially the abstracts.

I hope you won't think this rude but if you care about your health, please do yourself a big favor and learn why a low-carb diet is the only healthy way to eat. The best source of information is the book "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes. He explains and documents in detail how it has happened that the American public has been so mislead about nutrition.

If you want an easy summary of the information in Taubes book, check out the FatHead film/DVD. This seemingly silly film actually documents the correct science.

At the very least, scroll down to the short clip titled "Big Fat Lies" which explains how Ansel Keys manipulated the data which lead to the false belief about the dangers of fat.

As far as support, you can easily find many excellent low-carb blogs and lists. Jimmy Moore's Livin' La Vida Low Carb is a good starting place.

Best wishes.

I love those art pieces, wonderful color and shapes... I've been following your blog a while & added you to my "blog roll". you know, it's funny, yesterday,I googled a Pat Dews DVD & somehow got your blog with a posting on a class you took with her! I was thinking of buying that one, did you enjoy it? Trying to switch over from more traditional watercolors into collage mixed media/abstracts/figures...

Thanks for the comments Joan. Yes, it's always a nice surprise when we paint our section and match them up.

ME, glad you're enjoying the blog and I've ordered the book. I have a home economics degree and I'm always interested in nutrition.

HeartFire, I don't think I have a dvd by her but the Carrie Burns Brown is excellent. Check the new Brommer workshop posts.

Margie, thanks I didn't know you liked that painting..thanks for the update.
