Good Morning Texas, CBC, Watercolor Artist magazine

I belong to a group of collaborative painters, Canvas by Canvas and this is our newest painting of the Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, TX. and we invite you to watch us Monday, January 25 on Good Morning Texas on channel 8. This is the square that I painted:

"Charms and Legends"
12" x 12"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

I posted this painting on my blog in August and now Watercolor Artist magazine has featured it online. The magazine has a Creativity Workshop article and issues a challenge each month. In the October 2009 magazine, M. E. "Mike" Bailey wrote about the "Play it Again" challenge to paint in a series of related ideas using the same subject. The above was the first painting that inspired me to continue with the couples idea, friends and lovers, series.

I have been notified that I've won first place in the challenge and you can see the paintings and article here online. There were two nice prizes that I will enjoy for months (1.) a six-month subscription to online video workshop and (2.)$50.00 worth of North Light Fine Art Books. I will post later about the title choices. Thank you F+ W Media.
You can see more paintings from this series on my web site HERE.

The Watercolor Artist deadline for entry for Deborah Secor's challenge is February 12. Read about working in a new medium or a new format and send in your painting. Deborah works in pastels but has written about her experience painting small works with gouache. Her web site is (look for her gouache work) and she has a blog.

Please invite your friends to watch Good Morning Texas live on Monday and see Canvas by Canvas members painting.

That's a killer painting Nancy!Very impressive and I'm glad you got recognized for it, congratulations.
That group painting of the stadium looks like one person did it! Get your tv spot posted on youtube so we can see.

Congratulations on your first place win in the magazine!!! Love the image. This is a wonderful connection of two of my favorite people. Hope you get a chance to meet Mike Bailey one day. The two of you would hit it off.

Thanks, Myrna and I like your portrait you posted today and hope you get in. I've heard you talk about Mike and hope to take a workshop with him some day.

Hey Thanks Nick for the idea and now to figure out how to do it. We'll probably be able to put the whole segment on as it won't be very long (3 min. or so) but I think we'll be in the studio the whole hour and they will pan over to see what we've painted. We are excited! Got our little Canvas by Canvas matching aprons all ready.

Congratulations on your win Nancy, and what a marvelous rendition of our new stadium. Way to go, CBC! If Jerry watches Good Morning, Texas, you just might have a sale!

Nancy Standlee said...

Pat, thanks for the kind words about the stadium and since you and Frank are big Cowboy supporters it's nice you like our rendition.

You girls should have posters made and see if you could get a contract at the stadium store to sell them. Good publicity for CBC. The fans buy everything in there and pay mega-bucks for their purchases!

That is a poster that BT had made that's on our home page but getting a contract to sell them is another story. Nick suggested we put the segment from the tv program on YouTube.

Cheryl, Thanks.. It doesn't get any better than to hear "that's my favorite ever". I love reading the challenges each month and may try again.

How exciting, Nancy! I'm thrilled for you! You and your group have a wonderful time, it seems, and accomplish a lot, too.
We don't get the D/FW stations down here in Aggieland, or I would be sure to watch the program.
