"Shop Talking" ~ Facebook ~ Utrecht Art Supplies

"Shop Talking"

20 x 20 inches
Acrylic on paper mounted on canvas

I have joined a group of painters, Daily Abstract Painters Gallery, and some of us have taken out an ad in the September 2009 issue of the American Art Collector and "Shop Talking" is my entry. The magazine link has a rolling slide show of ads and you can click on our ad to view but I've also added it below. I've updated the the page on my web site today that has "Shop Talking" and you can read more about the painting. and have added a page of small original works of 5 x 7 acrylic florals on paper.
Here is the full page ad in the magazine:

Because of these ads and the possibility of some more traffic (I hope) to my blog and web site, I'm in the process of updating my web site and joining some social networks. I mentioned LinkedIn in the last post and yesterday I updated my profile on Facebook. I joined there about 2 years ago but never completed the profile. I've added the buttons from each on the side bar of my blog and if any of you belong to either, please invite me to be your "friend". I'd love it.

Art Opportunity - Utrecht Art Supply
(link is now updated 8/28/09)
Do you ever get to display your art without paying an entry fee? Very seldom but Utrecht is celebrating their 60Th anniversary by an art competition with prizes. You may send in 3 original art pieces and it is a juried show and the deadline is September 1 and again there isn't an entry fee.

I read that on Blogger there are 270,000 words written every minute and 2/3 of the traffic comes from outside North America in this order, Brazil, Turkey, Spain, Canada, and the UK. Facebook has more than 200 million active users and more than 100 million users log on at least once a day. More than 2/3 are outside of college and the fastest growing group is the 35 years old and older. Now my question is "Who is left to look at my little art blog?" If you happen to read it join me on LinkedIn and follow me on Facebook.

Hi Nancy...the way I read the Utrecht contest rules, it eliminates a lot of us: *Student must be registered as a matriculating student toward a degree in art, design or architecture at an accredited U.S. College or University.
Could you also post a little about how you attach paper to canvas as in your last lovely post? Sounds intriguing but I wouldn't have a clue how to do it. Also what kind of paper do you use for an acrylic painting?

Ginny I'm glad you caught that about the contest and I'll update the link

Use this one and I'll do a post about the paper. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Nancy, I'm here following you!I hope you continue to post your work shop and painting adventures on this blog. I'm not ready for the social networks yet. Obviously you type very fast and have more energy than the Energizer Rabbit :O)

Eva, you make me laugh. Not to worry my blog will always come first and I'm preparing for a workshop soon so I will have some new techniques to share. I can type fast yes but my battery runs low at times!

Love this one!
I was curious, too, about how you attach paper to canvas.

Thanks Cecelia I'll try to include that in a blog post this week.
