"Dear Friends"
Cupcake Painted Paper Collage Painting
10" x 10" x 1.5 on gallery wrapped canvas
"Dear Friends", a cupcake collage was made using some of my hand painted papers combined with some found papers. A Texas map was used as the background with some vintage stamps. There are no rules in collage about the type of paper used so if it adds to your design use it. Some of my previous portrait collage posts have shown my work with magazine papers that I refer to as torn paper collage. Most of the papers in the cupcake were painted and stamped with acrylic paint. The title, "Dear Friends" was torn from a book page.
Vikie Milam, who owns J Dolittle Co in Graham TX will show some of my work in her eclectic shop soon. I'm preparing a box of paintings to get to her next week. Stop by at 338 4th Street and enjoy your visit with Vickie.
Workshop:
If you think you'd like to design and paint some of your own paper for collage, I will be giving a 3 day workshop sometime in early 2012 and the first day will be an orchestrated design process of painting our papers with the remaining days devoted to collaging these unique pieces of paper with a subject of your choice, maybe you'd like to collage your own cupcake, a favorite food, a fruit, a rooster, a bird, a cow, or your pet. The design choices are endless and will result in a very original work of art by designing your own paper and working from an original photograph. And I will have some cupcake designs available if you'd rather choose from one of my designs.
If you are a blogger and post on FaceBook:
My friend and collage artist, Suzy Pal, taught me a time saving process on how to quickly link your blog post to your FB account. This will mean something if you have a Blogger account. Go to your Dashboard - Design Tab - "Blog Posts" - Edit - Configure Blog Posts - Post Page Options - Check the square "Show Share Buttons"...now the benefit of all this.. after you post your blog you can hit the FB share button and it will be on your wall OR I hope that's what is going to happen because I'm going to try it. (Now look on your post after publishing below comments section and you should see a little row of buttons??? I hope you do and I'm going to click FB one and hope it goes to Facebook.)
Suzy also teaches collage classes in West Texas and New Mexico. We have been discussing having a team teaching workshop - together. I know we would have fun. Anyway you choose to do collage, with a workshop or trying it on your own, just try it and I think you will love it as much as Suzy and I do.

Your cupcake is delicious in every way, Nancy.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, Sherry.
What a fun piece :) I love the map as a background image...
Thanks Ruth. I think the map is a little easier to go a hard piece like masonite than it is the canvas but so far it's holding!
I love your cupcake and all of your collages. You have inspired me a lot. I am sorry I haven't posted lately, too much drama going on in my life to keep up with the internet. Thanks for the FB tip. I checked your page and it worked! I'll try that too. It will save a lot of posting.
Thanks Eva to take out time to post. I agree that little trick will save a little posting time.
