I gave a torn paper high heel collage one day workshop at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center for 9 eager students and I can't wait to share their work. One lady had never done any thing with painting or collage before. I planned this workshop with the idea that you didn't have to have prior art experience but some did. I tell them I need to talk to you about 45 minutes at the beginning of the class to get your confidence up and before the time was up and someone in the class said.. "OK.. we've heard enough. Where's the glue. We're ready." I furnished the image and photos and they brought their own magazines to tear. We were surrounded by art in one of the galleries, lunch was a few steps away in Z's Cafe and it made for a fine day of meeting new friends and learning more about collage. Thanks Elaine Taylor, gallery manager for proving this opportunity for us. They gave me the highest compliment when some said, "When is your next workshop?".  Thanks class for giving me your time for the class and taking a chance with collage.
(We called it a high heel collage workshop but some wanted to do a Texas boot and that was agreeable and if a guy showed up, he might be more comfortable with a boot.)
Please note: Some of the pieces are not finished. One great idea for future works you might consider is one student was collaging her daughter-in-law's wedding high heel and adding one of the invitations to it. Won't that be a forever keepsake?

Here are some photos of individual work and below that is photos with them working at the tables.

(An apology to some I told I'd post steps to this collage and I got so involved I forgot to take photos but will next time. This is a large collage so they could see the steps clearly and I finished it up at home.)

Nancy...that looks like a really fun filled class. So glad to see you're still doing your "paper paintings". The idea of the wedding shoe is brilliant!!

Thanks Wanda.. I agree about the "wedding shoe".. wish I'd thought of it but it would make an awesome gift. One of the larger pieces 20x20 shoe will go to a juried exhibition tomorrow.
