Nancy Portrait ~ LinkedIn

"Nancy"

14 x 18 in.
Acrylic on canvas panel

Several years ago (2006) I took a portrait painting class over the weekend with Steve Barry and I worked on this piece, put it away and found it again. I had painted on too much blue eye shadow in a fit of intuitive color choices so I removed some, changed the background from a rust to a red, got it too red, liked the Southwest rust better, so reworked it so I could get some color variation and signed it. (No wrinkles, no glasses, no problem). I used it on my home page of my updated web site Nancy Standlee . I love the hat and it does make a statement. The brim is so large it causes single file walking.

LinkedIn
This is like a professional "online Rolodex" to keep track of your colleagues and art friends, make new connections and send out announcements. I've spent most of the day getting my profile set up, adding applications and deleting them and trying something else and posted a weak little "We're woking on a zebra collaboration".
If you are on LinkedIn, let's connect. I'm still learning how this social network is constructed and may not have enough time to update often but the idea is appealing to connect with other artists. I've joined a Professional Fine Art Group and several others and an alumni group from Tarleton State University. So you're invited to view my web site and join me on LinkedIn. Tomorrow I need to check out Facebook and Twitter and I need a housekeeper to wash the dishes. My online social life is taking all of my time.

Love the portrait and the blue hair. I understand about being reluctant to join the social networks. It takes me all morning just to keep up with the friends I have now. Can't imagine being on twitter or Facebook!

Thanks, Eva..I prefer the blue, violet over gray mouse brown for hair. I'm going to give a try on the social networks but I know what you mean about keeping up with current friends.

Oh Nancy...this is a wonderful portrait. I adore it. (And I don't say this very often.) Are you submitting it to David Lobenberg's Love-in portrait blog? I hope so. I have not been using my acrylics all summer and you are whetting my appetite to get back to them!
I am totally resisting Facebook and Twitter. I LOVE blogging and I LOVE painting. I LOVE email. I cannot imagine adding one more thing to my life! Have you seen Julie/Julia the movie? It's about a very successful blog! Among other things! A nice movie. No violence. Just food, love, blogging, and friends!

Hello, Ginny.. I don't remember exactly which photo I sent to David.. I think I sent one in a head wrap.. will have to send this one for the next deadline.
I've seen Julie/Julia and I adored it and could really relate at how excited she became when she received her first comment. I'm glad you like the portrait and thanks for the comments.
