Indiana Pink Tulips 13036, Dreama Workshop, Carmel, Indiana by Texas Artist Nancy Standlee

Indiana Pink Tulips 13036
12x12" in Ampersand Gessobord Oil

I've flown back into DFW today from  a Dreama Tolle Perry oil workshop at the Renaissance Gallery in Carmel Indiana and the pink tulips were painted on Friday, February 22, the first day of the workshop. A question one of my friends asked before I left, "Why Carmel? It's cold there?" Well, I guess it was an oversight on my part because I signed up during a hot Texas August and IF you've ever tried to get into one of Dreama's workshops you know it's just not that easy as they fill up quickly. There was an opening posted so I took it. It was a great workshop but the Midwest storm followed me there making for a little flight turbulence along the way and I got up Friday morning with about of 1/2" thick ice on my rental car windshield. Fortunately a scraper was included but cold, oh, my. I gingerly drove to the Indiana Art and Design district and the class was held in Kathleen Stevens previously owned Renaissance Fine Art Gallery. Kathleen had a great spot saved for me. There were 19 in the class.

Dreama's teaching style is geared for student success. I've taken many workshops and her method is a super way for students to learn how she uses the transparent oil colors. Dreama will talk and demo in broken segments of study and it gives us plenty of time to go back to our easels and paint, then regroup for the next session. She continues breaking down this process into easy to grasp portions until by the end of the day each of the 19 students had a very nice painting.
See some of the group shots below.

CNN Money Magazine named Carmel the #1 best place to live in America for 2012 and it is north of Indianapolis about 20 plus miles. I loved all the statues around the design district and this one was outside the gallery.
The post would be complete without a photo of Dreama and her tulip demo.

Hi,

I discovered you through Leslie's challenge. I took the Dreama workshop in Virginia in April and loved it. I'm about to post mine from the workshop on my blog. I've been waiting for frames. Your tulips are fabulous. Happy painting. (maybe I did post some of them already because I talked about her workshop, can't remember in the whirl wind of marketing.
