Cinderella Cupcake Torn Paper Collage "To The Ball" 13071
12x12 on gallery wrapped canvas
Available at my online gallery at Daily Paintworks HERE:
I was working on a 18x24 commission, see blog post HERE with this same color scheme so decided to repeat it in a smaller version as I love these colors together. I used acrylic paint for the sky area and liked it so much I decided not to collage over it. I used some hand painted papers from a Cinderella story book, atlas pages, and various found papers that I decorated with stamps and glazes. On the cup there are glimpses of metallic paints and a few vintage stamps for accents.
Let me give a big thank you for the collage lovers who have downloaded my ArtByte tutorial since it was published yesterday. I appreciate it so much and if you could leave a review it would help the next person in their consideration for purchase. Below is more information about it.
I have written an ArtByte about the process of torn paper collage for the Daily Paintworks site
and it is ready for viewing HERE.
It has 10 pages with
more than 50 images. An ArtByte is a small online tutorial that may be
free or it's very affordable. Mine will be very affordable at $10.00 and
it's loaded with information . And/or I can answer any questions you
might have. Send me an email or message me on Facebook. You can also
leave a review. There are several very good free ArtBytes that are filled
with information. When you get to the Daily Paintworks web page, look
under tutorials. Here is my online gallery at Daily Paintworks.
Tea Time is one of the images I used to explain the collage process in the ArtByte and it was sold yesterday and is on it's way to an Austin art collector.
Am I going to collage my way through September? My house is beginning to look like an explosion in a paper factory. I think I will have enough paintings to get me through about half of September, then I will be taking Leslie Saeta's palette knife plein air workshop in Virginia Beach and take a few days to visit some friends in the area. My friend wants to learn how to collage so I'm packing some papers, a canvas and glue and will give her a lesson. When I return home I will attempt some watercolor illustrations for a book of poems and if the author likes she will use them in a book. I'm looking forward to this challenge, both the 30/30 and the challenge of trying my hand at watercolor again.

To see work by other artists who are following along with the 30/30 go to the Leslie Saeta blog.
I have joined hundreds of other artists for this September painting
challenge and we are trying to paint and post a painting each day. It
doesn’t have to be a finished piece but some piece of art each day. On
some of the larger commission pieces I have posted portions over a 3 day
period. On the smaller pieces I can do one a day.
I've decided to open a shop at Etsy as I will be adding some small watercolors soon. The shop has limited paintings right now but I will add more each day. http://www.etsy.com/shop/NancyStandleeArt

Just love your collages Nancy, every time you look at them you discover new things. Any workshops planned in a near future in Texas?
Nothing scheduled but if I could get 3 or 4 interested parties I could schedule one in Ft Worth or maybe Arlington
What a wonderful and creative way to embellish your painting. I love your color/pattern choices. You have THE EYE!
